GLYCOSMIS PENTAPHYLLA PDF

This genus includes a large number of very closely related thornless shrubs or small trees ranging from southeastern Asia and the East Indies to northern Australia. It will probably require careful study of living plants in the garden and in the laboratory to tell whether or not the very numerous forms that have been referred to this genus constitute good species or are merely varieties. Some species are constant, others variable. Five species have uniformly unifoliolate leaves; two have regularly trifoliolate leaves; and several have leaves with five leaflets; two or three species occasionally have as many as 13 to 15 leaflets. Most of the species have very small flowers, but one G.

Microb Pathog. Epub Jan 9. Biosynthesis, characterization and antimicrobial activities of zinc oxide nanoparticles from leaf extract of Glycosmis pentaphylla Retz. Biosynthesized nanoparticles have an incredible application in biomedicine owing to its simplicity, eco-friendly properties and low cost. The present study aims to determine the green synthesized zinc oxide nanoparticles from methanolic leaf extract of Glycosmis pentaphylla.

The confirmations of synthesized nanoparticles were characterized by peak at and nm in the UV-VIS spectrum and photoluminescence spectrum respectively.

FT-IR studies revealed the functional group of the nanoparticles. The morphological characterization of synthesized zinc oxide nanoparticles was analyzed by SEM and TEM and size of the particles were ranging from 32 to 36 nm. The synthesized zinc oxide nanoparticles exhibited interesting antimicrobial activity against pathogenic organisms.

In addition, this is the first report on leaf mediated synthesis of zinc oxide ZnO nanoparticles from Glycosmis pentaphylla. All rights reserved.

Glycosmis pentaphylla

Botany Gingging is a shrub growing 1 to 5 meters high. Leaves usually have 3 to 5 pinnately arranged leaflets, though these are sometimes reduced to one or two, all forms being often found on the same plant. Leaflets are oblong-lanceolate to lanceolate, 5 to 18 centimeters long, and 2 to 7 centimeters wide. Flowers are small, white, about 6 millimeters in diameter, borne in axillary, solitary or paired, interrupted, narrow, cymose panicles which are 5 centimeters long or less.
